San Diego Krav Maga Classes: Protecting Your Child from the Bullies

Bullying is a problem prevalent among many American schools. Bullies may intimidate and humiliate their victims, scarring them psychologically for life. They also tend to harass their victims physically, sometimes, to the point of life-threatening consequences. You’re not around all the time and you can’t be sure whether or not the bullying recurs even after discussing it with the other adults concerned. As an added measure, perhaps, the best thing you can do for your child is to enroll him/her in a San Diego Krav Maga class. The purpose is not to encourage fighting but to teach him how to neutralize attacks such as punches, or to get free when being restrained. He will learn to handle situations calmly and confidently, too, to keep them from escalating to physical bullying.

Krav Maga in San Diego: Practical Self-Defense for Women’s Protection

On August 2014, San Diego police reported a series of attacks on six women walking alone in the North Park area. The assailant was arrested a month later, charged with assault using a deadly weapon, battery, and attempt to commit sexual offense. Had it taken the authorities a longer time to identify him, he probably would have victimized more. This is just one of the thousands reported every year in major cities like San Diego. What’s even more disturbing is the fact that offenses by strangers account just about 25% of the cases. The bigger percentage is actually committed by people within the victim’s very own circle of trust—friends, acquaintances, and even intimate partners.

Krav Maga in San Diego: Benefits of Learning Self-Defense Techniques

New York Krav Maga instructor, Katrina Kothe said, "Krav Maga can help women attain new athletic goals, increase muscle definition, self-confidence and mind/body coordination as well as assist in stress reduction.” This benefit to women was best exemplified in Jennifer Lopez’s 2002 film, Enough, wherein she learned the technique to protect herself from her abusive husband. Although San Diego Krav Maga is popular for its aggressiveness and forceful techniques, women should therefore not be intimidated on integrating it with their workout. This training is a great exercise as it offers many health benefits, maintains physical shape, and teaches self-defense as well.
